5) Our narrative is of a mental patient stuck in a mental asylum and is struggling to get out and we show the patient free discovering his mind and the contrast between the two, with shots where they both feature as the different characters. Does this appeal to you and why?
- Yes, this sounds very interesting
-I like the idea of showing the contrast between the mental patient and the free version of himself.
- By the description you have given me i think it might be quite confusing between the two versions of the main character and will take away from the song itself.

Feedback on Music video Idea
1. Do you like our idea and why? If not state why.
- Ethan Labelda - Likes our idea and how we will cut between the patient as a patient and the patient as part of a band. Ethan stated how it is effective as the video is set in a mental institution the video expresses the double life as a patient and as an artist.
Team Response - We appreciate the response as we talked about making the cuts between the character as a patient and as a member of a band a key part of our music video to express the two different lifestyles.
2. Do you like our idea and why? If not state why.
- Sam Martin - The location is interesting, the school is nearby, easy to get to and potentially be able to use some teachers as actors. How are you going to make an ice white room though to film in?
Team response - We agree that the location offers a wide range of flexibility as it supplies us with a vast selection of different locations as well as an effective studio where is where we will plan to make the ice white room by putting white bed sheets in the background of the room.
3. Do you like our idea, what aspects catch your eye? If not state why.
- Dani Alexander - It's an ok idea, I don't like how it will be set in just a white studio, I think there should be props there such as pills on the side, a cup of water so the audience will definitely understand this is a patient in an asylum. I really like the idea and contrast when they patient is running around London showing he is free when he is singing compared to his isolation in the asylum.
Team Response - We take the criticism on board and we will definitely make the white room look like an asylum and connotes to the audience as a stressful place to be isolated inside through the use of props. Additionally, we will ensure the running free scenes based in London will be in the correct locations to make the star image of our character look as free as possible when he is singing to highlight the contrast of his life as a patient and an artist.

Analysis of how a Star has Developed Over Time in Music Videos
Micheal Jackson
Bille Jean- 1982
This is where Micheal is becoming the biggest solo artist in the world but still at the early stages of his career. He is young, cool talented and that is shown through his music video of Bille Jean. He is in a cool outfit, dancing and just him having a good time without a deeper message.
Thriller- 1983
Only a year after Billie Jean so not much has changed, however its hard not to mention arguably the most famous music video of all time which is 13 minutes long. Similarly MJ is at the peak of his powers in this video is lots of choreography and a now famous dance, enhancing MJ star image at the time.
Man in the Mirror- 1987
In this Music video Micheal doesn't even feature, the video highlights the message of 'make that change' and shows powerful leaders and events that embodies his message. A Micheal got older instead of just dancing in his videos, he used them to send political and social messages as he became an icon.
Black or white- 1991
There was lots of publicity surrounding MJ ever changing through surgeries and skin colour, Micheal became quite freakish to many. This video goes along with that as it is very strange and weird which many people thought MJ was at this point very abnormal. However, also had another strong political message on equality which is highlighted throughout the video again MJ used his videos to send messages.
Earth song- 1995
This video is another with a strong message about the destruction of the world and the environment, which was a common theme in his music videos as he got older.

Lip Syncing Task Short Evaluation
Questions:
1. Why that particular song?
-‘Castle on the Hill’ because it is a male vocalist and the lyrics were easy to express with passion.
2. What was difficult about the lip syncing
- The difficult parts were getting the pace right when the song would speed up and slow down the actions of the singer had to match the pace in everything he did, especially the lip syncing.
3. How easy was it to cut to the beat? E.g. change shots in time to the music
- We had a range of different shots for the same parts of the song so it would be easy to cut different shots to the beat and select the ones we preferred most that would fit in well.
4. What effects did you put in the video and why?
- We used transitions and dissolves mainly to make smooth cuts to different shots to make the music video flow more cohesively.
5. What would you change/ do better if you did it again?
- I would've preferred to have more time to create a bigger variety of shots and use more locations to make the video more diverse and connote more emotions across to the audience.
6. What has it taught you about planning for the real music video in September?
- That planning is essential in making a clear music video, showing the beginning, middle and end.
7. What was your narrative about and the star image of your artists?
- About how his life has changed so much from being a kid always hanging out with his friends to the harsh truths of life and different realities of his life and his childhood friends.

Lip Syncing Task
There are three things to learn from this preliminary lip syncing task:
- The actor in this video didn't fully learn the words before filming, which is evident in this video as he can be seen getting the words wrong several times, therefore I've learnt that before filming our music video we must place importance on learning the lyrics of the song fully.
- One thing that worked well was that we played the song while filming which helped as it allowed the actor to get the lip syncing on time for the most part and it made editing easier as instead of matching the visual cues in the song, I matched the audio cues of the song in the video and the song itself, this proved helpful thus I will repeat this technique when editing our music video.
- Another part of this video that could be improved upon is that the cuts between shots weren't as smooth as I would have liked, and the fault here lies within how I edited each shot, thus when editing our music video I will make sure that each shot matches the lyrics in and out of the cut otherwise it is noticeably amateur.

White Lies - First Time Caller, Synopsis Exercise
Synopsis - Overview of the narrative, a break down for the director to allow them to inform the artist about their ideas when selling the product to them.
It's clear from the music video that the narrative was about a warped east London relationship about a coupled that are bored and restless.
Thought the use of dark colours we get the sense of a dark and gloomy tone of the artist and the video. Through the concrete and metal environment, we get the idea that the band want to be taken seriously
The instruments in the abandoned warehouse indicate that the band is organic, and through the narrative element of all the young people working out with council estates in the backdrop we get the sense of the band's star image is one of being edgy and anti-authoritarian.
Furthermore there are intertextual references to films such as a Clockwork Orange and This is England 86, the tv drama as they both feature high rise council estate
